Photo exhibition: Climate research above the treetops

Welcome to the Amazon!

Our photo exhibition takes you on a journey of discovery, deep into the Amazon rainforest and far beyond its treetops. The ATTO research station is located in the middle of the world's largest rainforest. Scientists from all over the world come together here to learn more about the Amazon and understand what makes it tick. They want to know how an intact ecosystem works, because that gives us information about what puts it most at risk and how it can best be protected. So the researchers are investigating what fungi have to do with clouds and why rivers fly here.

Most of the pictures were taken by the researchers themselves, who spend a few weeks in the rainforest every year. Let your gaze wander and discover the breathtaking scenery of their research, gain insights into scientific work and the fascinating diversity of life in the middle of the rainforest.

For anyone curious to find out more about the research behind the photos, QR codes provide further exciting information.

If you want to delve even deeper, you can experience the rainforest and the research station up close with VR glasses or climb our tower model.
