Dear Sangeetha, where are you from and what brought you to Jena?
I come from India and I moved to Jena because I found a position here as a software developer. I wanted to seize this professional opportunity.
What do you like best about your company and your work?
What we like best about my company is the innovative atmosphere and the interesting projects. I appreciate the creative challenge in my work.
What challenges did you face when arriving in Jena and/or onboarding at the company? How were you able to overcome these challenges?
At the beginning, I had difficulties with the German language. It was challenging to understand the company’s internal processes. The company helped me with this and offered me a language course. My colleagues help me to better internalize the work processes.
How did your company support you particularly well?
My company has supported me in all aspects and makes me feel comfortable. They help me to understand my tasks, offer training to improve my skills and several German courses and have supported me in finding accommodation.
What are the biggest differences in everyday life and work between your home country and Jena? What tips would you give to people who want to settle in Jena?
In Jena, I noticed that there are many differences in work, culture and lifestyle compared to my home country (India). There is a lot of emphasis on work-life balance here. To settle in Jena, I recommend getting to know the local culture and language.
What is typically German / typically Jena for you?
Jena is close to my heart. The people here, the pleasant working atmosphere, the peace and quiet and the friendly and supportive colleagues are the reasons why I like Jena.
