On July 4, 2024, the "75 Years of VKU" ceremony matinee took place in Berlin. VKU President Dr. Ulf Kämpfer welcomed the guests and led into a large panel discussion, which was a central element of the event.

In the discussion round, Uwe Feige (Plant Manager Kommunalservice Jena) and others emphasized the importance of the municipal economy in Germany. He also gave an insight into the current situation of the municipal economy.

The Association of Municipal Enterprises (VKU) represents the interests of the municipal economy in Germany. Founded in 1949, the VKU today represents more than 1,500 municipal companies operating in the energy, water/wastewater, waste management and telecommunications sectors. The association supports its members in mastering the challenges of digital change and the energy transition while ensuring the high quality and reliability of their services.
