Reporting suspected or confirmed cases of tuberculosis

When a suspected or confirmed case of tuberculosis is reported, the public health department carries out the necessary investigations. For this purpose, information on the source of infection and possible contact persons are recorded. Disease-related education and information is provided.

Contact persons

Contact persons are summoned to the public health department and, if necessary, appropriate examinations are ordered. In order to exclude or prove an infection, the health office carries out examinations (blood tests, X-ray diagnostics, sputum examination).

Admission to a communal accommodation - homeless persons, refugees

Persons who are admitted to a communal accommodation (homeless persons, refugees) must provide proof that they do not have infectious pulmonary tuberculosis. This is issued by the public health department after a successful examination.

Certificate for stays abroad

The certificates required for stays abroad to exclude a tuberculosis disease can be issued after a blood examination and are subject to a fee.

For the performance of the tuberculosis test, a prior appointment by telephone is mandatory. The test result is usually available after about 1 week. A certificate is issued by the public health department.
