Dispose of medication safely

Expired or no longer needed medication should never be thrown down the sink or toilet! It is important to minimize and protect our waters and to dispose of medicines correctly.

Kommunalservice Jena has expanded its free take-back system for old medication with the support of the Zweckverband JenaWasser. Pharmacies were offered free medication garbage cans or alternative boxes for this purpose.

27 pharmacies are now participating in this take-back system, which organizes the environmentally friendly disposal of expired medicines. Furthermore, citizens of Jena can hand in their old medicines free of charge at the recycling centers of Kommunalservice Jena.
