The nationwide Read Aloud Day has been taking place since 2004. On this day, volunteer readers read to kindergarten and school children, for example in the observatory, the shoe store, the university library, the waterworks and the Romantikerhaus.
The children not only get to know exciting books, but also learn interesting facts about places and professions. On November 18, 2022, the 2nd grade of Schule am Rautal visited Kommunalservice Jena. They read the book "Die grünen Piraten. Toxic danger under water" was read by volunteer reader Markus Teuscher.
This was followed by a guided tour of the depot together with the children.
The children and teachers from the Rautal School were given an insight into the topics of waste, recycling and the careful use of resources. If you are interested, you are welcome to make an appointment with the waste environmental education department by calling 03641 4989253 or sending an e-mail to umweltbildung-ksj@jena.de.
