Discharge into a surface water body

The discharge of non-harmfully polluted precipitation water into a surface water requires water law permission from the lower water authority.

This does not apply to the discharge of precipitation water from non-commercially used areas.

Infiltration

In the following cases, infiltration must be reported to the water authority:

• surface infiltration
• Infiltration via troughs or pipes/rigole (only private individuals)

Permission under water law must be obtained for:

• Infiltration by means of a soakaway (tradesmen and private individuals)
• Infiltration via pipe/rigole (private individuals in TWSZ and tradesmen)

Discharge into a surface water body

The application for a water right permit to discharge to a surface water body must be submitted in 2 hard copies with the following documents:

• Application letter
• Explanation
• General plan
• Drainage plan with connected areas and discharge point
• Calculation of the discharge quantity
• Proof of the hydraulic capacity of the watercourse
• Information on rainwater retention
• Detailed plan of discharge structure

Infiltration

The documents to be submitted depend on the type of infiltration and whether it is a notification or an application for a permit under water law.
